The staff members were all awesome and Maureen and Frankie and Jasmine went out of their way to help out clients. Banyan Sebring was a nice and accommodating place to stay for treatment. The staff here have all been extremely nice and beneficial to my recovery. I would definitely recommend this treatment center for any one that struggles with substance abuse or mental health issues. From the time you arrive to the time you leave they help you along the way. I’ve been to treatment before

A lot of treatment.

And in every place I went,
we talked about the problem.

We talked about addiction.
We talked about trauma.
We talked about childhood.
We talked about mental health.
We talked about why we drink.
Why we run.
Why we destroy the things we love.

We sat in circles
and told our stories.

And I learned a lot about my problems.

But at Faith in Recovery,
something is different.

Here,
we don’t just talk about what’s wrong with me.

We talk about the One who can make me whole.

Jesus Christ.

Because maybe I’ve spent my entire life
trying to fix something
that I was never strong enough to fix by myself.

Maybe that’s the lesson.

I’m weak.

And that’s okay.

Because He is strong.

I don’t have to pretend anymore.

I don’t have to walk into a room
with seven suitcases
and a perfectly put-together face
while everything inside of me is falling apart.

I don’t have to convince anybody
that I’ve got this.

Because I don’t.

I don’t have this.

But Jesus does.

I have tried everything.

I’ve tried running.

I’ve tried relationships.

I’ve tried money.

I’ve tried beautiful things
and beautiful places
and new beginnings
and promises to myself
that lasted until the next storm.

I’ve tried fixing myself.

And every time I thought
I finally had the answer,

I found myself right back
at the beginning.

Until I realized—

Maybe the answer was never me.

Maybe the answer was always Him.

So now,
when I’m weak,

I don’t have to be ashamed.

Because Scripture tells me
His power is made perfect in weakness.

And for the first time in my life,
I’m starting to understand what that means.

My weakness isn’t the end of my story.

It’s where His strength begins.

So I don’t want to spend
the rest of my life
telling people how broken I was.

I want to tell them
how faithful God was.

I want to tell them
that He found me
in places I never thought I’d survive.

That He met me
in the mess.

In the relapse.

In the shame.

In the county jails

In the treatment centers.

In the moments when
I didn’t recognize myself anymore.

And He didn’t look at me
and say,

“Fix yourself,
then come find Me.”

He came looking for me.

And that’s what makes
this recovery different.

Because I’m not fighting
