Frequently Asked Questions for Recovery Resources
Recovery is a journey that can often times be overwhelming for new patients or families of loved ones in recovery. These FAQs provide clear, easy-to-understand answers to common questions about addiction recovery, treatment options, support programs, and next steps, helping individuals and families find reliable guidance and access the right resources with confidence.
When looking for a treatment facility, consider the facility’s expertise. Facilities should be vetted by third party analysts and have good standing in their local community. Ask the center these questions:
- Do you have any accreditations, like Joint Commission Accreditation?
- What are the qualifications of your staff? What are their credentials?
- How do you prevent relapse? What happens if a patient relapses?
- Are patients able to communicate with their families while in treatment?
- Do you offer detox or have detox partners?
Quality treatment facilities should be open about answering these and any other questions you or your loved ones may have about the treatment process. We offer resources for families of addicts in addition to these resources to help answer questions you may have.

As someone who cares deeply about someone who’s struggling with addiction, you’ve undoubtedly experienced a variety of conflicting emotions. Fear, anger, frustration, confusion, and hopelessness are normal and common reactions to a loved one’s addiction.
However, as much as you may want to help this individual, it’s important not to neglect yourself along the way. At our Banyan rehab, we offer family therapy for parents, spouses, and close friends of addicts who need help coping with the impact their loved one’s substance use.
