Drug & Alcohol Treatment Center
Recovering from addiction and alcoholism is much easier when patients find the right Illinois drug and alcohol treatment center. Located across 33 sprawling acres in the Illinois countryside, Banyan Heartland offers a peaceful, rural location for men and women who want to overcome their addiction. Previously a spa retreat, our facility is an ideal location for those seeking sobriety. At Banyan Treatment Centers Heartland, our facility combines peaceful solitude with quality amenities to ensure optimal patient comfort during the entire treatment process.
A Top Facility for Residential Drug Treatment in Illinois
Those in search of residential drug and alcohol treatment in Gilman will be impressed with our resources. Our Heartland rehab center focuses on individualized treatment programs to address all of our patients’ needs while also helping them feel as comfortable as possible during the recovery process. With 36 beds, we’re able to provide an ideal staff-to-patient ratio, so that we can ensure that each patient gets the treatment they need to have a successful long-term recovery.
Before beginning residential, PHP, or IOP treatment, patients must first undergo the detox process. Our medically monitored detox services in Illinois help patients safely detox from the harmful substances they are addicted to. Detoxing is a difficult juncture in treatment, but medical detox involves 24-hour supervision to ensure that patients complete the detox process safely.
In addition to our residential and medical detox programs, we offer off-site solutions for drug and alcohol treatment in Illinois. This includes off-site partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. Each program provides unique solutions that allow patients to meet daily responsibilities outside of the rehab setting while still receiving necessary treatment. While patients are receiving our off-site drug and alcohol treatment in Illinois, many will also continue working.

Brooke Fehr, M.Ed., LPC, NCC

Clinical Director
Brooke Fehr was born and raised in Fairbury, Illinois. She received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Illinois State University in 2015 and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University in 2019. Brooke is a certified licensed professional counselor and National Certified Counselor. She began working in the addiction field in 2018 as a substance use counselor at a community mental health agency and now serves as the Clinical Director of Banyan Heartland. Brooke’s passion for the addiction industry began as she became a firsthand witness to family members struggling with addiction and mental health concerns. As she started working as a counselor, she fell in love with the difference she was making in her community and could not imagine working in another career. Brooke is naturally seen as a helper, and she finds joy in giving people the tools and support necessary to reach their goals. Being in a leadership role, allows Brooke to work hands-on with many clients and staff members, which she feels honored due to the dedication represented by both parties. Brooke looks forward to continuing to grow and learn in her current position and sees herself one day retiring at Banyan.

Christina Scherer

Family Services Coordinator
Christina was born and raised in New Jersey where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies from Monmouth University. With much uncertainty about which career path she wanted to pursue, Christina found herself involved with the wrong crowd. She began experimenting with drugs and struggled with addiction for eight years. During that period of time, Christina had several unsuccessful treatment attempts, and tried many unconventional methods to achieve sobriety. Upon finding her bottom, she was able to create a plan with the support of her family that landed her in South Florida for long term treatment. Christina began her career at Banyan in early recovery as a receptionist, worked directly with our clients as a case manager, and most recently joined our Family Services team. She recognizes the immense impact that her family has played in her recovery and looks forward to supporting and guiding the families and loved ones of our clients.

Jessica Alvarez

Illinois Alumni Supervisor
Jessica started her journey to recovery in 2009. Jessica’s path led her to work with several foundations as an advocate for those who struggle with addiction. She continues to be heavily involved with the local recovery community, advocating for those in need of resources. As co-founder to the 516 Light Foundation, Jessica speaks publicly at community forums, facilitates family events, and gives presentations at local high schools and colleges where she provides resources and education on addiction and recovery. Additionally, Jessica works closely with the Governor, Congress, and local police – Naperville’s Connect for Life program to raise awareness about addiction and bring resources to the community.
Jessica first came to Banyan Treatment Centers in May of 2016 as an Admissions Coordinator. After showing her dedication and strong work ethic, Jessica was promoted to Chicago’s Alumni Supervisor, which allows her to fulfill her passion by helping individuals and families who suffer from drug addiction through the discharging process.
