What Is Loud Weed?

There are varying levels of cannabis quality that can affect the aroma, taste, cost, and side effects of the drug. People who are unfamiliar with marijuana or who use it and are unfamiliar with its slang terms may not know what loud weed is. Calling weed “loud” is another way of saying it’s strong and has a strong odor. This type of weed is described as high-quality marijuana that creates stronger and faster side effects than “regular” weed.

Regular Weed vs. Loud Weed

There are different levels of cannabis strains that can be broken down into three main categories: reggies, beasters, and loud. The bottom of the totem pole is “reggies,” which is also referred to as “brick weed.” This is a dull green or brown colored weed that may contain stems and seeds. It’s usually the cheapest and of the least quality.

Next up are beasters, which is middle-of-the-road marijuana that comes from Canada. Beasters may have fewer seeds or stems than brick weed, as well as different tastes and side effects. This type of weed also tends to have higher concentrations of THC that can range from 15% to 20%.

After beasters is loud weed, which is a type of marijuana that’s known for its powerful aroma, pungency, potency, and side effects. Loud weed is described as a hybrid strain that produces giggly, sleepy, or talkative side effects. It’s reported to smell like citrus, pineapple, and skunk, along with an herby underlying taste of eucalyptus and fruit.

Loud Weed Ingredients

Although the origin of loud weed is unclear, it’s believed to have emerged in Atlanta, Georgia. As noise can be loud, the term “loud” is used to describe this type of weed’s intense odor and strong taste. Other terms applied to loud weed include “dank” and “fire,” and the strength of loud weed is referred to as its “loudness.”

With that said, what is in loud weed that makes it so “loud”? As with any other strain, loud weed can contain a mixture of several cannabis strains that are grown under certain conditions. Strains of marijuana that are in loud weed are usually grown through selective breeding that involves strains with high levels of THC.

The term loud weed applies specifically to a strong type of cannabis and does not refer to weed laced with other drugs. While weed is often mixed with other drugs for a specific high, loud weed is not made this way.

There are also different types of loud weed, including loud scout and loud dream. Loud weed is one of the most potent and expensive strains of cannabis available with a concentration of 26% of THC and usually sells at $800 per ounce.1

Loud Drug Effects

As you may have guessed, due to loud weed’s extreme potency, its side effects tend to be much more severe than those of milder strains of marijuana. Some users may experience heightened sensory perception, such as colors appearing more vivid than usual or noises being louder.

Other loud weed side effects include:

  • Euphoria
  • Relaxation
  • Mood swings
  • Altered perception of time
  • Hallucinations
  • Paranoia
  • Anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Psychosis
  • Increased appetite
  • Increased heart rate
  • Slowed breathing
  • Bloodshot eyes
  • Fainting
  • Falling
  • Dizziness
  • Dizziness when standing up
  • Drowsiness
  • Slowed reaction
  • Impaired judgment
  • Poor balance and coordination

Another risk of loud weed use is heart attack due to the drug’s high concentrations of THC. A person’s risk of heart attack is generally five times higher right after smoking weed. Additionally, marijuana can also increase blood pressure and heart rate, which can be dangerous for people with underlying cardiovascular problems.

Long-term effects of loud weed may include memory problems, mental illness, chronic cough, lung disease, respiratory problems, chest colds, and even addiction. While marijuana isn’t believed to be addictive in the same way that cocaine and heroin are, dependence is possible and you might find yourself needing weed to “feel normal” if you use it long enough.

It’s also possible to overdose on marijuana, including loud weed. A loud weed overdose can occur when a user smokes or ingests (loud edibles or weed baked into food) too much of it, leading to symptoms like anxiety, paranoia, excessive shaking, and extreme hallucinations. If you believe the person who has overdosed may harm themselves or others, or shows severe signs of distress, call 9-1-1 immediately.
