Being in the spotlight isn’t easy, especially if your father is a 2020 presidential candidate.
As the child of a presidential candidate, anything you do or say is scrutinized in the media and can be used against the candidate to jeopardize their campaign and that is the reality of 49-year-old Hunter Biden.
The son of Joe Biden has admitted that he has a history of addiction and that it all began when he was in high school. Other substances, such as cocaine, were also abused while he was in college. Hunter claims that he was in a dark place and “you figure out how to deal with it.1”
Hunter Biden’s Addiction
Hunter was in and out of rehabs for years and was even in an intensive outpatient program and outpatient treatment program for addiction. He was sober for 7 years until he drank on a business trip. He sought treatment again. After the 2015 death of this brother Beau Biden, Hunter relapsed. On his way to a rehabilitation center in Arizona, he realized he left his wallet on the plane and while waiting, asked a homeless man where he could purchase crack. That same week, he was driving and lost control of the vehicle. After that, he called the rehabilitation center to pick him up.2
Hunter Biden’s Wife and Sobriety
Since getting treatment, Hunter has been sober and recently married. Hunter Biden’s wife, Melissa Cohen, is proud of her husband’s recovery and honesty about his past with addiction.
