In an interview with XXL magazine, French Montana reveals that his “health scare” in 2019 was far more serious than people were led to believe.
He disclosed that his hospitalization was due to his party animal lifestyle.
The 36-year-old said he was drinking excessively and taking too many prescription pills, like Adderall and Percocet. French Montana’s substance abuse landed him in the ICU for 7 days before he was moved into a private room for another week. Then after his release, he was placed on a month-long bed rest.
His condition was fragile; hospital workers even warned him, “If you drink, you’ll die.” The silver lining, however, is that French Montana quit drinking after his 2019 health scare.
The rapper took a break from music and social media to focus on himself and his health. “Everybody is drugged up. Everything got control of my life but me.” He continued, “For me to stop everything and just step back, that was like the hardest thing I ever did in my life, to snatch myself back. That was like one of my biggest accomplishments.”
