He was with two other people and Gillum was initially unresponsive upon police arrival. According to a police report, the police were called to the hotel room because of a possible drug overdose. They said that Gillum was “unable to communicate with officers due to his inebriated state”.

Though there was suspected drug use, Andrew Gillum claims he did not use illegal drugs. Gillum was in town for a wedding and stated that he had too much to drink. In a statement that he made on Sunday, he said, “This has been a wakeup call for me.
