Carrie Underwood Gets Candid About Her Mental Health

Mental health is something to be taken seriously. The more we talk about it, the more we can help ourselves and others who are struggling.

Country Singer Carrie Underwood discusses how her mental health has improved by exercising and she feels like she is better to be around after working out.

Exercise and Mental Health

When you work out, you are making your body and your brain healthy and putting yourself in a better mood. There are many health benefits of exercise, including stress relief, sleep improvements, and memory improvements. Carrie says, “I feel like I’m better with my kids. I’m more patient. I’ve gotten out some pent-up energy. I feel like I’ve accomplished something, which is important to me.”1

Sure, she could go for a massage or a facial or a relaxing vacation, but Carrie says she doesn’t have time for all of that. When working out, it doesn’t have to be a rigorous, long workout routine. Even just a 5-10-minute walk can get you energized and feeling better. Studies even show that brief exercise, working out for just a few minutes, can improve brain function. 2

Carrie also admits that she schedules time to cry for no reason. It’s not because anything happens in particular, but sometimes you just need a good cry and she has learned to be okay with that.
