Banyan Delaware Veterans in Recovery

Veterans in Recovery is a veterans drug rehab that offers addiction treatment services that cater to servicemen and women. As a Milford treatment center for addiction, Banyan Treatment Centers Delaware understands the crucial need for drug rehab programs for veterans that are led by a team that understands their unique needs and offers comprehensive treatment. Many individuals who have been deployed have firsthand experience with trauma and currently suffer from drug and alcohol abuse. For many veterans, substance abuse is their go-to way of coping with past traumatic experiences and other struggles they’ve faced in and outside of the line of duty. Banyan is proud to announce our Veterans in Recovery program in Milford, Delaware, as an additional form of addiction treatment for veterans who have fought hard for our nation.

Veteran Substance Abuse Treatment

An alarmingly large portion of veterans suffers from some form of substance use disorder. Whether it’s drugs or alcohol, addiction can ruin a person’s ability to sustain healthy relationships with their loved ones, keep a job, and fulfill basic tasks. What many fail to realize is that addiction is not a choice but rather a disease. Once a person becomes entirely dependent on drugs or alcohol, they’re no longer able to control their use of these substances without help. While all individuals with addictions require and deserve individualized treatment, our facility takes it one step further for veterans.

In addition to addiction, retired military personnel often suffer from mental illness and other disorders that can further encourage substance abuse. For instance, veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may use drugs to cope with their symptoms. Veterans with permanent injuries or limb amputations may drink or abuse drugs because they’re upset or ashamed. While there’s a long list of reasons why veterans use drugs and alcohol, we have an equally long list of treatments that can help.

Medical Detox

Our drug treatment for veterans usually begins with our medically monitored detox. Medical detox is led by the medical staff at our facility and includes medical administration, as needed, to assist patients in physical recovery from withdrawal symptoms. Common withdrawal symptoms include headaches, nausea, vomiting, drug cravings, sweating, chills, and more. Withdrawals occur when people addicted to drugs or alcohol reduce their intake of these substances or stop using them completely. For many, withdrawal symptoms are uncomfortable and painful enough to discourage continued recovery. Without formal medical detox treatment, the likelihood of patients’ continued recovery is greatly reduced. Withdrawal symptoms for substances like alcohol and opioids can be especially life-threatening. The dangers of withdrawal symptoms provide all the more reason to prevent any complications by undergoing a drug detox that’s medically assisted and held in a safe environment.

We offer detox programs for substances like:

  • Alcohol
  • Benzodiazepines (benzos)
  • Cocaine
  • Heroin
  • Methamphetamine (meth)
  • Opiates
  • Prescription drugs

Residential Addiction Treatment

At Banyan Delaware, we also offer inpatient rehab for veterans. An inpatient rehab, also referred to as residential drug treatment or residential addiction treatment, offers treatment for drug and alcohol addictions in our facility. Patients live in our facility for the duration of their veteran rehab programs to offer them as much guidance and support they need. Residential treatment is especially suitable for those who have severe substance use disorders. By living at our facility, patients can avoid any distractions at home that can make recovery more difficult or less likely to be completed. Patients will also recover with the comfort of knowing that help is available whenever they need it.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our veterans rehab center also offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP), a variation of outpatient drug treatment. A PHP for drug treatment allows patients to receive addiction treatment part-time at our facility and return home or to a sober living facility at the end of the day. Usually, patients undergo treatment for several hours several times a week, after which they're able to return home to their families. PHP treatment is a great substance abuse treatment option because it allows patients to keep up with their treatment while spending time with family and maintaining their school work or jobs. This program's flexibility also helps patients slowly transition back into everyday life and much-needed support following deployment.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is another one of our veteran substance abuse programs offered at our Delaware drug rehab. An IOP is a type of rehab program for addictions and other disorders that do not require detoxification or round-the-clock supervision. Our IOP enables patients to go about their day-to-day activities while still receiving the care and support they need to get sober and stay sober. Whereas residential treatment requires patients to live onsite, an intensive outpatient program allows patients to go home. IOP is often used in conjunction with other inpatient drug programs to ensure that veterans at our facility are able to transition seamlessly into their daily routines.

Our rehab for veterans in Delaware offers drug treatment programs for substances like alcohol, benzos, cocaine,  heroin, meth, opiates, and prescription drugs. We also offer supplemental recovery programs like our 12 Step Program and Alumni Program to ensure that patients receive continued care after they’ve completed their treatment.
