Lily Allen Opens Up About Past Addiction

Lily Allen Opens up about past addiction

Lily Allen opened up about her past addiction on a recent episode of the podcast The Recovery.

Lily Allen’s alcohol addiction had interfered with her relationship with her kids, Ethel and Marnie. "I felt so guilty about neglecting my kids in those early years of their life," she said. "I really have a great relationship with my kids now.”

Lily’s alcohol addiction first began when she was in school. She first realized she had a drinking problem when she found herself drinking one bottle of Grey Goose vodka per day. The mother-of-two also took Adderall in order to lose weight while working long hours. Adderall is a stimulant used to treat ADHD, but some abuse this drug for the energy it produces. Unfortunately, even prescription drugs can cause addiction, and that’s exactly what happened to Lily Allen. An Adderall addiction is a serious problem, and people who develop a prescription drug dependency often require drug addiction treatment

It wasn’t until Lily started to lose everything that she realized something had to change. "I lost my marriage. I lost my house I worked for 10 years to buy. My career started sinking. I lost all my friends.”

Lilly Allen Is Sober

Today, Lily Allen is in recovery and doing great. She is thankful to leave her addiction behind, and grateful for the opportunity to build a happy relationship with her children. She recently married super star actor David Harbour from “Stranger Things”, who is also in recovery and has been sober for 20 years. The two of them work together to support each other’s sobriety.

Lily Allen’s sobriety serves as an inspiration for many who are struggling with addiction or are trying to stay motivated in recovery. If you or someone you know is battling substance abuse, Banyan Treatment Centers is here to help get you on the path to recovery.
