The Mature Track at Banyan Treatment Centers

Addiction is different for everyone. While many addiction treatment centers use the same programs for all of their patients, at Banyan Treatment Centers, we believe that every patient deserves a customized treatment plan that is tailored to meet their individual needs. While many of our patients are young adults, those who are more mature and older may be looking for a treatment that is tailored more to their needs and lifestyle.

What Is the Mature Track?

The Mature Track is a substance abuse treatment program designed for people over the age of 35. These adults tend to have a much different lifestyle than their younger peers, so their treatment should also reflect these differences. Not only do they have other needs, but they also often think differently than young adults as well. In order to provide them with their best chance of long-term sobriety, our Mature Track focuses on help for mature adults. Currently our Mature Track is available at Banyan Pompano, Banyan Massachusetts, and Banyan Philadelphia.

Substance Abuse Treatment For Older Adults

After requests from the community and our alumni, we decided to create a drug rehab for older adults with our Mature Track that focuses on the needs of those over 35 who suffer from a substance abuse disorder. We understand that mature adults may struggle to relate to young adults, but this generational difference shouldn’t keep them from getting sober.

Instead of being forced to try and connect with people who they have nothing in common with, a program that is focused on substance abuse treatment for older adults allow this group to connect with peers their own age. During group therapy sessions, these individuals can rest easy knowing that the other people in their group can relate to them. Having a support group of likeminded individuals, makes sharing and opening up about their problems easier and promotes better long-term success in their recovery.

Addiction is also often connected to or the result of underlying mental health problems. For those mature adults who struggle with mental health disorders alongside their substance abuse disorders, our Mature Track program also offers dual diagnosis treatment for older adults. Our mental health facilities provide various therapies and programs that are designed to help patients manage their symptoms and decrease the power that their mental health disorders has over them. By addressing both their mental health problems as well as their substance abuse problems together, patients have a greater chance of seeing real success and experiencing lasting sobriety.

At Banyan, we also understand that another hurdle for older adults in getting treatment is the number of responsibilities they already have that they simply cannot ignore. Unlike some of our younger patients, older adults seeking addiction treatment may have established careers, families, and a hectic life. It can be difficult to be able to step away from these responsibilities and get help for yourself, but our case managers are willing to work with you to find a treatment plan that works for you and your busy lifestyle.
