Prescription Drug Rehab for Veterans & Active-Duty

Prescription drug rehab is a critical aspect of healthcare for many veterans and active-duty personnel who have been injured or experienced trauma during their military careers. These individuals are at a higher risk for chronic pain, mental health disorders, and substance abuse, particularly prescription drug abuse. With the increasing concern about the misuse and overuse of prescription drugs among military service members and veterans, our Banyan rehab locations have come together to create the most effective treatment plans possible to support these individuals in long-term recovery. Below is more about our military and veterans' prescription drug rehab centers and how we can support you or a loved one in getting sober.

Commonly Abused Prescription Drugs

Several prescription drugs are commonly abused, either due to their addictive properties or their ability to produce a high when taken in large doses. Some of the most commonly misused medications include opioids, benzodiazepines (benzos), and stimulants.

  • Opioids: Also referred to as narcotics, opioids are painkillers that are often prescribed to treat moderate to severe or chronic pain. However, despite their effectiveness in pain relief, opioids can also cause a sense of euphoria and relaxation when taken in high doses. Some common opioids include oxycodone (OxyContin), hydrocodone (Vicodin), and fentanyl (Actiq).
  • Benzodiazepines: Also called ‘benzos,’ these are a class of drugs that are commonly prescribed to treat anxiety and sleep disorder but may also be misused for their sedative effects. Some commonly abused benzos include medications like alprazolam (Xanax), diazepam (Valium), and lorazepam (Ativan).
  • Stimulants: These include substances that increase nerve activity in the brain and nervous system, producing symptoms like increased alertness, energy, and attention. Stimulants are often prescribed to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy or other sleep disorders. However, they may also be misused for their side effects. Commonly abused stimulants include methylphenidate (Ritalin), amphetamines (Adderall), and cocaine.

All prescription drugs, while effective for their prescribed purposes, can be dangerous when misused or taken without a prescription. Misusing prescription medications can lead to addiction, overdose, and other serious health problems. Fortunately, Banyan’s Military and Veterans in Recovery program offers prescription drug rehab services that can support you or someone you care about in regaining sobriety.

  • Engaging in risky behaviors, such as driving under the influence, stealing pills, or stealing from others to obtain more pills.
  • Experiencing withdrawal symptoms when not taking prescription drugs.
  • Hiding prescription drug use or lying about use to others.
  • Neglecting responsibilities like work, school, or family obligations due to pill use.

Finding Prescription Medication Rehab Near

Prescription drug abuse is an ongoing concern in the nation, affecting individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Chronic pain, combat-related injuries, and self-medicating mental health problems have contributed to prescription pill abuse among veterans and active-duty service members. As a family of nationwide addiction treatment facilities, Banyan has created a program specifically designed to support veterans and service members in recovering from substance abuse and mental illness.

Our prescription drug addiction treatment is held on one of several various levels of care, depending on the client’s needs. Following a clinical assessment, clients may be placed in our residential program, partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), or outpatient program. Residential is the highest level of care we offer and is specially designed for individuals who require medical treatment – such as medically assisted detox – and 24-hour care.

Our PHP, IOP, and outpatient programs are each less intensive forms of care than our residential program and are best suited for individuals who are medically stable and do not require round-the-clock supervision or support. These programs allow clients to return home after their sessions and go to work or school outside of rehab.

No matter how long you’ve had an addiction, our military and veterans’ recovery program is here for you. Contact Banyan Treatment Centers today to verify your insurance and learn more about our rehab for prescription drugs.
