Banyan’s Military and Veterans in Recovery Program offers various levels of care to help veterans and active-duty personnel recover from addiction and mental illness. Our programs are personalized to ensure that each client receives care that meets their unique needs.

Outpatient treatment is part of our levels of care, during which clients experiencing a milder addiction or mental health disorder can receive treatment while staying active in their lives outside of rehab. Keep reading to learn what services our military and veterans outpatient clinic offers.

Purpose of Outpatient Addiction Treatment

Our veterans' outpatient treatment for addiction and mental illness offers clients a part-time rehab experience where they’re able to utilize our individual and group therapy options while maintaining their careers and relationships outside of rehab. Addiction is known as a relapsing disease, meaning that while one might overcome the addiction at some point in their life, falling back into their old behaviors is always a risk.

Banyan’s active-duty and veterans outpatient clinic is an effective option for those looking to fortify their sobriety skills and revisit rehabilitation techniques to remain sober and stay on track. Our outpatient VA clinic for addiction and mental illness is an incredible step to take after undergoing IOP or PHP care.

Outpatient treatment is often the best step for clients to take as they’re transitioning out of rehab to everyday life. Addiction and mental illness are not to be taken lightly. Therefore, opting for our military and veterans outpatient clinic following a more intensive program is encouraged for clients who feel they may need some extra help transitioning to a stable lifestyle.

Benefits of an Outpatient Substance Abuse Program

Addiction treatment has a spectrum of intensity, ranging from highly structured, in-depth care to minimally supervised treatment. Outpatient rehab is designed for people whose needs for supervision and intensive structure are relatively low.

Outpatient treatment for addiction and mental illness involves clients living at home or in a sober living facility and commuting to our military rehab center during the day for medical and counseling support several times a week. Outpatient treatment can be a standalone form of care, or it can be the next step after an inpatient program is completed.

Our military and VA outpatient clinic are best suited for people who are:

  • Mentally and physically stable
  • Not in need of intensive care for addiction or mental illness
  • Live in a stable home environment (or in a sober living home)
  • Willing and able to dedicate their time and energy to their recovery

Clients who do not live in stable environments or struggle with their commitment to their recovery plans may require more intensive care. Additionally, components of an individual’s outpatient rehab program vary depending on their needs.

Our Outpatient VA & Military Program

Recovery from addiction and mental illness takes time after detox and other more intensive levels of care are completed - this is where outpatient treatment comes in. For people who struggle with addiction or mental health problems, our military and veterans' outpatient clinic offers flexibility during treatment.

The primary goal of our outpatient program is to establish self-efficacy and independence, which has been shown to reduce the risk of relapse in recovery.1 Our military and VA outpatient program offers the benefits and accountability of privacy and self-regulation but also encourages individuals to be responsible for their daily life and recovery.

Our nationwide veterans' addiction treatment centers offer various forms of outpatient care, including our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and aftercare services. Our IOP is a step down from partial hospitalization treatment, the former of which prepares clients to transition back to their lives outside of rehab. Clients live at home or in sober living housing during IOP.

Our alumni services offer support to clients, known as alumni, to help them stay on track after they’ve left rehab. This form of care includes 12-step groups and support group meetings.
