Military and veteran mental health during and after deployment is a growing problem in the U.S., and nationwide military personnel are suffering from physical injuries and mental health problems. At Banyan Treatment Centers, we pride ourselves on helping those who have served our country with trauma therapy treatments to help get them accustomed to their lives after the military.
We provide a veteran mental health treatment plan surrounded by life skills training, education, and reintegration back into society. At Veterans in Recovery, we use various methods of trauma therapy and specific techniques by licensed professionals, including:

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Active Duty and Veterans
One aspect of our trauma therapy treatments for veterans involves a special type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, known as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT). This therapy is designed to address the thoughts associated with traumatic experiences such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a short-term therapy treatment plan that typically lasts between 8 to 25 sessions. Additional cognitive behavioral therapy that is trauma-focused may be needed afterward to address secondary problems resulting from trauma symptoms.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
The Veterans in Recovery program at Banyan Treatment Centers includes Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) as a therapeutic approach to treating conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, grief, anxiety, addiction, phobias, and more. It incorporates a combination of techniques used in other forms of therapies, such as memory visualization techniques, memory reconsolidation, and more. Our staff members at Banyan have received extensive accelerated resolution therapy training to ensure that our veterans receive the care they need to cope with symptoms of trauma for the rest of their lives.
What Is Accelerated Resolution Therapy
ART is a form of psychotherapy that speeds up the recovery process by helping clients reprogram how their brain stores traumatic memories and imagery. Our accelerated resolution therapy for PTSD is especially helpful for veterans who have been exposed to trauma and/or suffer from trauma-related mental illness. Accelerated resolution therapy works by combining various features of evidence-based psychotherapy, including rapid eye movement (REM), voluntary memory, and image replacement. These exercises help patients reprogram traumatic memories that produce strong physical reactions like depression, isolation, crying, insomnia, fear, anger, and troubling flashbacks or memories of the event.
Additionally, patients aren’t required to relive these experiences through talk therapy or narrating. Instead, our licensed therapists work with them to help them gently reprocess memories related to these incidents. The goal of our accelerated resolution therapy for veterans is to help patients live their lives free from the chains of trauma and help reintegrate them back into society. We follow the required accelerated resolution therapy protocol to ensure our patients get the help and benefits they need.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
A new form of psychotherapy in trauma therapy treatments that has been gaining broad appeal over the last decade is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR. This treatment was designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories and experiences from the military. This form of mental health and PTSD treatment for veterans involves the notion that the subconscious mind constantly moves toward mental health unless the flow is blocked. The goal of our veteran mental health treatment center is to remove that blockage with EMDR.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing harnesses the power of eye movements, sounds, or pulsations to help stimulate the brain. With the use of these sensory experiences, the professionals at Banyan Treatment Centers can help veteran patients focus on traumatic memories to help them overcome symptoms of depression, anger, and anxiety, as well as a wide range of other mental health disorders experienced by active duty and veteran personnel.
Veterans in Need of Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT)
At Banyan Treatment Centers, we help active military and veterans permanently overcome the ongoing mental effects that stem from traumatic experiences with Rapid Resolution Therapy. Also known as RTT, this is a trauma therapy treatment that uses hypnosis, guided imagery, stories, and purposeful communication to create a subconscious response to help eliminate the challenges of those affected by trauma.
Rapid Resolution Therapy can help treat several mental health disorders in veterans, including:
- Adjustment Disorder
- Anxiety Disorders (Generalized, OCD, Panic)
- Attachment Disorders
- Bipolar Disorder
- Grief and Loss
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Self-Injury or Self-Harming Behaviors
- Depression
- Thought Disorders
