IOP Treatment at Nourish in Recovery

Completing treatment in an eating disorder recovery program is an admirable accomplishment that we wish to see each of our clients achieve. Still, we understand that jumping back into an everyday routine from this can be daunting for some. To help bridge that gap, Nourish in Recovery offers IOP treatment that can allow those clients to continue developing in their healing without being overwhelmed. Learn more about the benefits of this program with Banyan Treatment Center Philadelphia.

What Is IOP Eating Disorder Treatment?

IOP stands for an intensive outpatient program and is the lower level of care behind our partial hospitalization program or PHP. It will typically run 3 to 5 days a week, with programming consisting of group therapy, individual therapy sessions, and much more. Sessions will usually last for a few hours a day, giving clients the opportunity to return home and night. This flexibility also provides clients the chance to attend to any personal obligations they may have.

An intensive outpatient program for eating disorders is best suited to a client that meets the following criteria:

  • The individual continues to feel an impact from the eating disorder in their everyday life.
  • Additional mental health conditions like addiction or depression still require management.
  • There is a clear benefit for the client from having the support and structure of this program.
  • The client and/or their family are able to comply with the requirements of IOP treatment.
  • The client is not at risk of harming themselves or others.

Upon arrival at our rehab in Philadelphia, clients are evaluated by our team of professionals, who can determine if their needs are suited to this program.

Benefits and Goals of Eating Disorder IOP

Perhaps one of the most revered benefits of our IOP for eating disorders is the flexibility it provides to our clients. This gives them the ability to resume any obligations that they had to pause for treatment, like school, work, or family. In turn, clients are able to begin developing the lessons learned in treatment in a real-world setting. They are also able to continue leaning on the pillars of support that we helped them establish while at our Philadelphia eating disorder clinic.

Group therapy sessions are also a major factor in this program, allowing clients to develop meaningful relationships with their peers. A support network is crucial with any type of recovery, and we work to provide a space and environment that promotes this. Additionally, clients can enjoy more privacy and personal agency than they would with a more intense program. They are able to practice the skills learned while in treatment, giving them a chance to develop in the real world.
