Veterans in Recovery Program at Banyan Chicago

At Banyan Chicago, we understand the hardships and trauma that most, if not all, veterans face in their line of work. As a drug and alcohol treatment center in Chicago, we understand how many of these individuals take up substance abuse in an attempt to cope with their emotional and physical distress. The trauma that servicemen and women often experience while deployed is unimaginable for those who are not in their line of work. Many veterans come home changed by the things they’ve done and seen during deployment and often turn to harmful coping methods, like substance abuse. However, drugs and alcohol only worsen mental and physical health. Because addiction is such a prevalent disease among veterans, we’ve created Veterans in Recovery, addiction treatment designed for veterans.

What Are the Benefits of Our Veterans in Recovery Program in Illinois?

There is no one-size-fits-all treatment for addiction. Comprehensive and structured, yet flexible forms of substance abuse treatment are essential to long-lasting recovery. Addiction has many facets, and each one requires attention. Substance abuse affects each person differently and only using one form of treatment across the board is usually ineffective. When it comes to addiction treatment for veterans, Banyan Chicago is equipped to offer patients the care they need to overcome the physical and psychological effects of drugs and alcohol.

Our Veterans in Recovery rehab program offers various benefits, such as:

  • A safe, clean, and comfortable environment where patients can recover
  • A certain level of separation from other patients to ensure privacy and confidentiality is respected
  • Individual therapy
  • Group therapy to promote peer support
  • Healthy coping mechanisms
  • Outdoor activities and outings led by our team

Our rehab program for military personnel is centered on not only treating their addictions but also on teaching them healthy ways to manage negative emotions related to trauma and mental health. Substance abuse disorders are both mental and physical and an individual with this disease deserves the best form of treatment possible.

Forms of Addiction Treatment Included in Our Veterans in Recovery Program

Inpatient Treatment

Banyan Treatment Centers Chicago offers a residential treatment program, which is a form of inpatient care during which patients live onsite. In the early stages of treatment, addiction is most difficult to manage and overcome. During this period, it’s safest for patients to receive 24-hour care and support should any emergencies occur. Having the patient live onsite through the early phases of their treatment also prevents any distractions or temptations from steering them off course.

Outpatient Care

Our Veterans in Recovery addiction program also includes various forms of outpatient care, such as:

  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
  • Intensive Outpatient Program for Co-Occurring Disorders

Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a rehab program that allows patients to live off-site while undergoing treatment. Patients in this program will spend 8 hours a day, 5 to 7 days a week receiving treatment and engaging in substance abuse therapy. This program is usually the next form of treatment following residential treatment. Although patients will spend most of their day at our PHP drug rehab, they aren’t always ready to return home where distractions and potential triggers are present. To help patients in this program continue progressing, we approve a sober living facility in the area.

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is most beneficial for individuals who want to continue going to work or school while receiving addiction treatment. Our IOP is a step down from our PHP and requires a minimum of nine hours of therapy a week and is available to patients for up to five days a week.

Because many veterans suffer from both addiction and mental illness, we also offer IOP treatment for co-occurring disorders. This program is both structured and flexible enough to properly address both aspects of their condition. By including therapies, individual counseling, and group sessions, patients will have all they need to recover while being able to work or go to school.

Not only do we offer various levels of programming for addiction, but we also offer substance-specific treatments. Certain substances cause different side effects and everyone’s experience with these substances is different. It’s important to have separate forms of treatment that are specifically centered around those substances.

Our substance abuse treatment programs in Naperville include treatment for:

  • Alcohol
  • Benzos
  • Cocaine
  • Heroin
  • Opioids
  • Methamphetamine
  • Prescription Drugs

In addition to treating addictions related to drugs or alcohol, we also offer treatment for individuals who have received a dual diagnosis. A dual diagnosis refers to co-occurring disorders, in which a person has both an addiction and a mental disorder.

Unique Therapies

Last but certainly not least, we also utilize a wide range of therapies to ensure that the physical and emotional aspects of substance abuse and mental illness are addressed.
