Ohio’s National March Against Heroin

Ohio’s National March Against Heroin

At the end of 2016, The Kaiser analysis, which was compiled from U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released statistics that showed Ohio as being the highest number of deaths from synthetic opioids in the nation. With these devastating overdose statistics appearing too often in the headlines, the time for awareness and change is now.

On Saturday March 25th, 2017, thousands of people are meeting to raise awareness on the heroin epidemic nationwide (but also specifically in Ohio). The march will consist of a huge rally with a number of speakers, organizations, treatment centers, performers, and groups. People from all over the nation are joining together to show their support for this event. The main goal of the event is to raise awareness specifically for the need of more detox facilities and in-house addiction treatment centers.

Ohio’s National March Against Heroin is being organized by Recovery in Richwood, and being held at the Spartan Stadium located in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Banyan’s very own Brandon Novak will be speaking to the crowd, sharing his own story, and giving hope to those who are still struggling in order to encourage people to seek the help they need to overcome their addiction. This hits home for Novak considering his twenty-one year battle against heroin.

The Banyan Treatment Center Family will have a promotional booth set up to educate the public on our facilities and services and provide information for those who are seeking treatment. We are proud to be a part of this movement and encourage anyone in the state or area to come out and march for this great cause.
