Viibryd Addiction

Viibryd Addiction

What is Viibryd used for? Viibryd classifies as an SSRI, which stands for Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor since it is an antidepressant that increases serotonin levels in the brain. The “feel-good hormone” refers to the neurotransmitter that is serotonin. Typically, if an individual has a major depressive disorder, then Viibryd is taken to increase mood, appetite, and help regulate sleep patterns. Viibryd addiction is not common, but it is essential to notify your doctor if you currently experience seizures, bipolar episodes, sexual problems, or if you drink alcohol.

Is Viibryd Addictive?

Individuals who have battled substance abuse before taking Viibryd are more likely to build a tolerance to the drug, which causes addiction. Typically, people will take higher doses more frequently to feel the effects of the antidepressant more rapidly. Harsher side effects stem from a person taking the prescription drug and mixing it with other substances like alcohol. Since serotonin in the body is increased, individuals who misuse the drug may acquire serotonin syndrome. This syndrome will give a sense of happiness or pleasure until negative impacts like high body temperature, agitation, tremors, and sweating take over the body.

What Are the Signs and Side Effects of Viibryd

Viibryd addiction is serious since it results in many health risks and issues. Some of the signs a person will have when addicted include obsession, going out of their way to numerous doctors to be prescribed the medication (doctor shopping), consuming frequent large doses of the drug, and or experiencing withdrawal symptoms as soon as the effects begin to decrease. Less common side effects of Viibrid use include:

  • Abnormal dreams
  • Acid or sour stomach
  • Blurred vision
  • Excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  • Loss of appetite
  • Loss of taste
  • Unusual tiredness or weakness
  • Vomiting

Viibryd’s most common side effects include diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, insomnia, and nausea. Usually, these side effects do not need medical attention. Still, these are unwanted symptoms that a person will not enjoy experiencing. The worst side effect of Viibryd addiction is a potential overdose, so realizing you may need addiction treatment is the first step to prevention.
