Joe Tuttle

Founder & CEO
Joe Tuttle

Founder & CEO

Born and raised in North Branch, Michigan, Joe Tuttle moved to Florida in 2004 to escape the harsh winters. He studied Business at Eastern University and over the years, has owned and operated many successful companies.

Joe’s entrepreneurial success started at the age of 12 when he began buying sports memorabilia which turned into a 23 year obsession. Over the years, Joe’s collection value was in the millions, finding great prosperity in selling and trading. In 1997, he established a contract with the Home Shopping Network to take his sales nationally. He used this newfound achievement to venture into other business opportunities, opening up six jewelry stores and a sports memorabilia shop.

It was through his stores that he met and established a relationship with a future colleague that introduced him to the treatment industry. Although Joe has not struggled with addiction issues himself, he is a family man and a very caring individual and was intrigued with this new potential business venture. Joe is passionate about seeing growth and success, and wanted to be able to provide a safe space for recovering alcoholics and addicts to succeed themselves.
In 2012 Banyan Treatment Center was born. Banyan was initially a small “mom and pop” program but did not stay that way for long. In the next two years, Joe brought aboard some talented individuals that shared a similar vision and work ethic, and Banyan began to grow. Today Banyan provides all levels of care in the treatment continuum, many specialty programs, and locations nationally. “I love my staff and our team is what makes this company flourish. We truly are a family, and as long as we continue to share the same passion, Banyan will continue to be the special place that it is.” Joe holds the title of Chief Executive Officer of all Banyan sites and continues to be the driving force behind our success.

Although Joe has not struggled with addiction issues himself, he is a family man and a very caring individual and was intrigued with this new potential business venture.

Kevin Shaffer

Behavioral Health Tech Supervisor

Kevin Shaffer is a former heroin and cocaine addict from Ft. Pierce Florida. When Kevin was 18 years old he lost his father in a car accident in which drugs and alcohol were involved. Kevin spent most of his 20’s in and out of multiple institutions while battling his own addiction. At the age of 28 after sleeping on the streets for 2 nights Kevin checked himself into a local detox and moved on from there into a local halfway house with nothing. He used this time to become grounded in his recovery and build an amazing support group. He spent the first year working as a day laborer and at Denny’s. After saving enough money for his driver’s license and a vehicle Kevin had an overwhelming appetite to give back to other addicts the same way that others had given back to him. He started working in the substance abuse field as a Behavioral Health Tech and was promoted to a supervisor after 90 days in the field. He now has almost 5 years clean and sober and 4 years of supervisor experience in the substance abuse field. He brings with him the unique ability to get through to the most hopeless clients.

Kevin aspires to grow professionally by continuing his education in the near future. Kevin has plans to become an addiction counselor so that he can help reach our clients’ needs from both personal and educational experiences.
