A partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides individuals access to a structured and safe treatment environment to recover from conditions like substance use disorders, mental health disorders, and eating disorders. Our Veterans’ PHP eating disorder treatment is offered to current or past servicemen and women who currently struggle with eating disorders like anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and others. This program is part of our Military and Veterans in Recovery program, which incorporates addiction treatment, as well. If you or a loved one is a veteran with an eating disorder who needs help, our Philadelphia eating disorder clinic can help.
What Is PHP Eating Disorder Treatment?
Unlike residential treatment, eating disorder PHP programs do not require clients to live at the facility during their care. Clients can come to the facility for several hours per day, several days per week, for therapy sessions and return home or to an approved sober living facility at night.
For this reason, PHP is considered a step down from residential eating disorder treatment or a step up from intensive outpatient programs (IOP). PHP can help clients adjust to the transition back to their usual routines while receiving in-depth support from our specialists.
This ongoing support plays an important role in reducing the likelihood of relapse or the chances of clients returning to old eating behaviors. Because our veterans’ PHP eating disorder treatment allows clients to receive care in-house and return home after, they’re able to receive daily support and guidance while learning how to apply the skills they’re learning to their day-to-day routines.
