As with most of our other Banyan rehab locations, our Palm Springs rehab offers a Military and Veterans in Recovery program that offers medically supervised detox and substance-specific treatment programs on a residential level of care to help both present and past servicemen and women recover from drug and alcohol addiction. Our military and veterans' inpatient residential treatment is a program in which clients remain at the facility during treatment for a distraction-free recovery. This program addresses withdrawal symptoms as well as clients’ emotional and psychological ties to drugs and alcohol. If you or someone you care about is a veteran or military service member struggling with a substance use disorder, our substance use disorders (SUD) residential treatment can help.
What Is Residential Drug Treatment?
While some people may receive adequate care in outpatient treatment programs, people with more severe or long-term substance use disorders may require inpatient or residential care. The military and veterans’ residential treatment program at our Southern California rehab incorporates components like medically supported care and psychotherapy to contribute to long-term recovery.
Residential treatment is a form of addiction care in which the client remains at the facility for the duration of the program. Residential treatment programs may vary in length, ranging from 90 days to 180 days, depending on the level of care the individual needs.
Our military and veterans’ inpatient residential treatment offers 24-hour care to help clients achieve and maintain recovery from addiction long-term. These programs offer a wide breadth of services to ensure that clients are receiving the care they need to safely get through withdrawals, mental illness, and more.
Residential care for addiction is best suited for individuals who need medical detox. Detox programs are normally the first step in residential treatment as it helps the individual overcome challenges in early recovery, such as withdrawal symptoms and drug cravings.
Our Military and Veterans Residential Recovery Programs
As we previously mentioned, residential addiction treatment is beneficial to individuals who have not undergone medical detox and/or have struggled with long-term drug or alcohol abuse. The longer someone uses drugs or alcohol, the deeper these behaviors become ingrained in their life, making it more difficult to quit.
To combat these long-term habits, our residential program incorporates services like:
- Medically-assisted detox
- Medically supported maintenance care
- Individual therapy programs, such as dialectical and cognitive-behavioral therapy
- Family or couples therapy
- Relapse prevention strategy building
- Follow-up care
Our medical detox in California is a crucial step in treating addiction because it helps clients safely get through the withdrawal process of recovery. What happens to the body during withdrawal can be highly uncomfortable and even life-threatening, depending on the drug in question.
Common withdrawal symptoms include high blood pressure, sweating, insomnia, tremors, anxiety, headache, nausea, vomiting, hallucinations, and more. These symptoms vary depending on the drug you’re withdrawing from.
Residential detox offers a secure and medically monitored environment where clients can receive the 24-hour supervision and support they need to recover safely. Medication is also administered as needed to reduce pain and discomfort caused by withdrawals.
Many veterans and active-duty personnel struggle with mental health disorders like PTSD, anxiety, and depression as a result from the combat and trauma they’ve been exposed to. Additionally, family and couples therapy, along with various psychotherapy programs, are also offered in our military and veterans’ inpatient residential treatment to address the emotional aspect of recovery.
Substance abuse is often a mechanism for coping with mental health problems, often resulting in a co-occurring disorder. For this reason, our facility focuses just as much on the psychological aspect of addiction as we do on the physical aspect of recovery.
