LGBTQ Addiction Treatment at Banyan Chicago
An often proud and vibrant group, the LGBTQ community has also faced many hardships that other people simply do not understand. With barriers like prejudices, discrimination, and even being turned away or disowned by loved ones, many members of this community will turn to drugs or alcohol to try and cope, but once they start, they may not be able to stop. Unfortunately, addiction in the LGBTQ community is an all too common trend. Substance abuse and mental health problems plague the LGBTQ community at a higher rate than the average population. When these conditions are left untreated the results can be devastating.
Our Chicago LGBTQ Addiction Treatment
Some people simply neglect to get the help they need while others may fear finding a rehab that will be accepting and accommodating for them. At Banyan Chicago, we welcome those in the LGBTQ community with open arms with our LGBTQ addiction treatment. We understand that there are special considerations, so we have created an addiction rehab for the gay community that takes these concerns to heart.
Gay-Friendly Addiction Treatment Options
Recovery from a substance abuse problem is a challenging and trying time for anyone. In order to be successful, the person in recovery needs to feel secure and do their best to focus on their recovery journey. As a member of the LGBTQ community, you may require extra considerations in order to do just that, but many Chicago drug rehabs may fall short when it comes to meeting your needs. In an attempt to help all of our patients feel as safe and as comfortable as possible, at Banyan Chicago, we do our best to not only address your concerns but also to have practices in place for a preemptive approach to tackling your fears.
For many members of the LGTBQ, the idea of rooming with other people can make you feel anxious. Patients in our partial hospitalization program in Chicago will be housed in sober living facilities off-site. Traditionally, patients are housed with members of their same biological gender, but we understand that this can be uncomfortable for the transgender community. For this reason, we allow our patients to be housed with people who match their presented gender so that they can feel as comfortable as possible with their new living arrangements.
Often members of the LGBTQ community may find that their internal struggles and reasons for their substance abuse problems may differ from their heterosexual peers. Especially for those looking for co-occurring disorder help, a good LGBTQ addiction treatment program should be prepared to address those issues. At Banyan Treatment Center Chicago, our qualified professionals are trained to handle these additional concerns. We also do our best to match patients with our staff members who also identify themselves as a member of the LGBTQ community to make sure our patients feel comfortable.
Addiction rehab for the LGBTQ community shouldn’t have to be so hard to find. We do our best to create a safe, supportive, and secure environment no matter who the patient is. If you are ready to take your first steps toward a brighter future, reach out to us today: (888) 245-0974.
