Addiction Treatment Levels of Care

Because substance abuse is different for everyone and some cases are more severe than others, at Banyan Treatment Centers Chicago, we offer different levels of care for addiction treatment. These levels of rehabilitation treatment provide patients with options for programming to meet their needs, and our staff will help them determine which type of addiction treatment is best for them.

Our Types of Treatment for Addiction

There is no one path to sobriety. Some people may require an intense type of addiction treatment. Others may be looking for more flexible options. In order to meet each person’s needs and give each person their best chance of lasting sobriety, we offer a wide spectrum of care.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Our most intensive level of care, our partial hospitalization program, or PHP, requires a minimum of 25 hours per week at our Chicago facility. This type of treatment for addiction is proven to effectively treat substance abuse problems, and many people can find lasting recovery through this program. During this program, patients will complete a variety of medical practices and therapies during the day and live in an approved sober living facility to ensure that they stay on track.

Intensive Outpatient Program

One step down in intensity is our Chicago intensive outpatient program or IOP. This program also offers a variety of programming options and therapies but without having patients return to a sober living facility at night. It gives more freedom to patients and allows for more flexibility. This program is ideal for patients who have a good level of support outside of treatment or who are transitioning from our PHP. During this time, patients will partake in individual counseling, group and family therapy, holistic treatments, and professional recovery guidance. There is a strong focus on relapse prevention and addressing drug cravings as patients are still connected to the outside world.

Outpatient Program

Our outpatient program for addiction looks to bridge the gap between treatment and a normal lifestyle. Patients in this type of treatment will continue their everyday lives with treatment programming during the week to guide them through the recovery process. Because of this structure, patients still have a great level of independence but also have support to lower the chances of relapse. This program is good for patients in recovery who are looking for a little extra support or those whose substance abuse problems are less severe.

Stabilization Program

Relapse is a common part of the recovery journey, but when it occurs, it is important to address it immediately. A stabilization program provides recovery after relapse and helps people get their sobriety back on track. Programming will focus on what caused the relapse and how the patients should approach similar situations in the future.

Alumni Programs

Successful completion of one of our addiction treatment levels of care is something worth celebrating, but your recovery isn’t over yet. Sobriety is an active choice that comes with many bumps and bruises along the way. In order to help our patients with this journey, we provide an alumni rehab program that connects our former patients to create an extensive community of support. Not only will people in recovery be able to reach out to one another, but also, we provide a variety of resources that are designed to guide patients on their continuing journey to recovery and promote long-lasting sobriety.

What Are the Appropriate Levels of Care for Addiction?

Determining the appropriate levels of care for the treatment of addiction is a complex task that requires a comprehensive understanding of the individual's specific needs and the severity of their addiction. The continuum of care for addiction treatment encompasses various levels, ranging from outpatient services to intensive inpatient programs. Outpatient care may be suitable for individuals with mild to moderate substance use disorders who can benefit from therapy and counseling while maintaining their daily responsibilities. Intensive outpatient programs offer a higher level of support, involving more frequent sessions and a structured treatment plan. Residential or inpatient treatment becomes essential for those with severe addictions requiring a more immersive and closely monitored environment. Our facilities provide round-the-clock care, medical supervision, and a range of therapeutic interventions.
