Everyone understands the excitement of receiving a package in the mail, and this is especially true for people who are receiving residential drug and alcohol addiction treatment in Massachusetts.
At Banyan Treatment Center Massachusetts, we encourage friends, family members, and loved ones to send care packages to their loved one in treatment. That being said, it is important to know what can and can’t be included in your care package.
Send Family Photos
Family photos can be a wonderful reminder of what the person in recovery is working for. Make sure not to include photos that can be triggering for drug use. Avoid sending photos of parties or family members the individual in treatment may have a shaky relationship with.
Do Not Send Perfume or Mouthwash
Our Massachusetts drug treatment center has strict rules about what’s allowed within the facility, and items containing alcohol are not permitted. This typically includes perfume and mouthwash.
Send Encouraging Books
Self-help books, religious texts, and happy stories can be encouraging for your loved one in recovery. If your loved one has any favorite books, consider sending those as well.
Do Not Send Valuables
Your loved one has plenty to worry about while they’re in recovery, and they don’t need the additional stress of keeping track of valuables. Make sure to keep valuables out of your care packages.
Send Comfortable Clothes
A comfortable outfit can make all the difference for someone in recovery. Send their favorite t-shirt or other comfortable outfits to make their drug and alcohol addiction treatment in Massachusetts better.
