Our drug and alcohol treatment center knows that there are many ways to celebrate your loved ones while staying sober. With these sober ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day, you’ll surely fall in love with being sober!
Sober Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day
Whether you’re celebrating with your partner or your friends, there are many sober ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Head Outdoors
Despite what the movies say, Valentine’s Day does not have to be celebrated at a fancy restaurant for dinner. There are so many fun day time activities you and your partner could enjoy! Active couples who enjoy the outdoors could take a nice walk or go for a hike, rent a paddle boat or complete a ropes course at a local park, or take a lovely bike ride through a state park. Since it’s Valentine’s Day, there’s a possibility that a charity is hosting a 5k walk or run you both could join. Pack a picnic lunch for any of these activities to give it an extra special touch.
Explore the City
If you’re looking for things to do in the city, you could create or participate in a scavenger hunt, even including places normally frequented by tourists, or you could explore places in the city you’ve never been. For a cultural spin, sign up for a couple’s class, such as dance, a cooking class, or a pottery class; stargaze at the planetarium; or marvel at the works of art at a museum.
Sober Valentine’s Day at Home
There’s no reason you need to go out, though. There are sober ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day at home. You and your partner could prepare a meal together with your favorite playlist queued up in the background. Hosting a love-themed game night with friends is another fun way to celebrate at home while also demonstrating to your partner how much he or she is loved and supported on their journey. If you’re celebrating with each other only, consider writing each other love letters, taking the opportunity to express the things you don’t say to each other every day.
