Will I get fired or do I have to quit my job to go into drug or alcohol treatment?

The ability to retain your current employment depends on your situation. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) does include provisions to protect some employees from termination if and when they seek professional drug or alcohol treatment. The bottom line is, if you are suffering from drug addiction or alcoholism, your job is already in jeopardy. So are your relationships and your life itself. There is never a better time to take control of your addiction than right now.

What levels of care are available at Banyan Treatment Centers? What is the process from admission to discharge?

Our drug rehabilitation process may differ based on the patient’s stage of addiction. However, typically the process is as follows:

  1. Admission & Detox – A new patient is assigned a therapist and undergoes an assessment and checkup upon admission. Medically monitored detox taper begins, usually lasting from 7-10 days.
  2. Residential – Following detox, the patient steps down to the residential level of care. Here, patients receive 24-hour medical supervision for about 14 days.
  3. Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) – At this stage, the patient spends approximately 30 days in PHP to redevelop skills of daily living in a communal setting with continued 24-hour support at an approved recovery residence. The patient will attend therapy sessions both individually and in a group setting. Supervised activities and coaching to learn life skills and coping mechanisms are also provided.
  4. Intensive Outpatient Program – Next, the patient moves to an external lifestyle where he or she may regain employment while attending 3 hours of therapy each day, 5 times per week. During this time, the patient will live in structured housing with other patients, attend 12-step meetings, group therapy sessions, and work with a sponsor.
  5. Discharge – When IOP is complete, our Case Management Team will develop a comprehensive blueprint to set the patient up for successful ongoing recovery, to include Alumni programs, sober living activities, and ongoing support.
