Eric Oakes has been in the helping professions for over 25 years. He got his start working with children and adolescents in schools and therapeutic communities in New England, and has been drawn toward those battling addiction ever since. Along the way, Eric has worked throughout the Eastern United States. He has treated a persons with severe and persistent mental illness, advocating from the community and in their homes. He has worked with persons with developmental disabilities, and women with young children as well. Eric has worked in addictions in the South Florida region for 15 years, successfully managing and directing several prominent treatment programs. In both public and Privately funded settings, the theme throughout has been a commitment to serving those in need. Eric Oakes is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master in Social Work, is certified by the State of Florida, and has a Master in Business Administration in Health Care Management.

Gloria’s vision for Banyan Treatment & Recovery is simple: that the needs of our clients are being met. By that, Gloria says she is personally invested in making sure that our clients receive both physical and emotional nourishment. Gloria makes it her personal goal to ensure that all clients have a valuable experience that serves to fortify their self-respect and self-assuredness because she believes everyone deserves to walk with his or her head held high.
Her experience with treatment and recovery comes from the personal experience unique to that of a loved one of an addict. Gloria has traversed the entire treatment and recovery process, which gives her insight into and compassion for what our clients are experiencing.
Catherine Manley, LMHC
Catherine Manley is Executive Director at Banyan Treatment Pompano and Banyan Detox facilities. She earned her Master’s degree at Nova Southeastern University in Mental Health Counseling and is licensed in the State of Florida. Working in the field of substance abuse treatment, Catherine has led staff in multiple roles as Primary Therapist, Detox Supervisor, and Clinical Director. In addition to her experience in human services, Catherine received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Florida International University in 2003. She has a background in marketing, advertising and project management. Catherine brings a great balance of education, compassion, and business acumen to the Banyan family. The driving force behind her ambition is centered on helping individuals struggling with alcoholism and addiction.
Northeast Regional Coordinator
Matt Ganem is a poet and the author of “The Shadow of an Addict.” Matt also hosts Banyan Recovery Radio and speaks to different schools, recovery programs and community forums on addiction. He is a huge voice for recovery not only in his hometown of Massachusetts, but nationwide.
Oxycontin which eventually led to Heroin addiction brought him to rock bottom at the age of 21. He was able to turn his life around and now tries to provide hope and strength to those still sick and struggling with substance abuse. Matt works relentlessly to help others escape the grasp of addiction by shining a positive light on recovery. He does this by speaking at schools and community events for prevention education. His work was recognized by Massachusetts Organization of Addiction and Recovery and Matt was selected to be Massachusetts Recovery Advocate of the Year in 2015.

Alexia Touboul, LMHC
After receiving a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida International University and two masters degrees in psychological counseling from Columbia University, Alexia became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. Throughout her career, Alexia has worked with a diverse population, treating individuals suffering from addiction, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, trauma, and stage of life issues. Alexia has worked at some of South Florida’s most respected drug & alcohol treatment centers and has acquired a breadth of knowledge and experience working alongside leaders in the substance abuse community. Alexia marries client-centered interventions, empowerment counseling, and cognitive-behavioral therapy to provide her clients with a well-rounded and comprehensive treatment approach.

Director of Alumni Services
David picked up the tools found in the 12 step fellowship and immediately dove head first into the recovery available here in South Florida, where he worked diligently with his sponsor and completed the 12 steps while obtaining employment.
David then began speaking at meetings and sponsoring other men along the way, freely carrying the message that was so graciously given to him. David became a tech here at Banyan Treatment Center. After showing his dedication and firm work ethic David was given the opportunity to take some training courses and becomes Banyan’s first recovery coach. After excelling in that David was then promoted again to Banyan’s Director of Alumni Services where David reaches out to client’s and keeps in contact while bringing them back for weekly alumni meetings and monthly alumni events.
Josh Katz brings Banyan over eleven years of experience working with hundreds of hospitals and treatment centers, where he helped thousands of people find the help they need. He studied Communications at Rider University and Health Care Administration at Palm Beach State College. Prior to Banyan, Josh was instrumental in growing many unique and successful programs for many different needs of treatment throughout the treatment industry. Josh is a staple in the South Florida Recovery Community and has built his reputation nationwide by organizing hundreds of conferences and helping families around the country.

Josh Gamaitoni was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. After his own personal struggles with addiction, Josh relocated to Florida to start his journey through recovery in 2011. Over the past six years, Josh has gained a well-rounded background in a variety of facets in the treatment industry including sober living management, admissions, community outreach and is currently working towards his certification as an interventionist. The Banyan Treatment Center Family is pleased to announce Josh Gamaitoni as National Director of Business Development and are excited to have the added experience he brings to the team. His goal is to assist those suffering from this disease and their families in any way he can.
Director of Community Outreach
Sue Shoemaker was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has a passion for addiction recovery and has worked in the treatment industry for over five years. Her goals of working in recovery is to maintain relationships in the community with the purpose of being a resource and educational asset to assist those struggling with substance abuse. Sue works as a community liaison and bridges the gap between the client and care. She also works with many nonprofit organizations that assist in providing Narcan to first responders in her local community. Sue is excited to join the Banyan Treatment Center team as Director of Community Outreach.
Director of Business Development
Corey was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. After struggling with his own demons of addiction, he decided to make a change and come to South Florida for recovery and flourished into the man he was meant to be. Corey joined the Banyan Team in 2014 starting as Banyan’s original Director of Alumni Services and quickly moved his way up within the company from Outreach Coordinator, to today holding the title of Director of Business Development. Corey plays a key role in our South Florida presence, but also travels nationwide to establish working relationships for Banyan Treatment Center and to let the nation know Banyan’s Mission.
Ryan Steinberg M.S
PHP Clinical Supervisor
Ryan Steinberg M.S. works as the PHP Clinical Supervisor at Banyan Treatment Center, specializing in solution focused therapy, client-centered therapy, as well as disease concept and education about the Twelve Steps. Ryan has worked extensively with adult and adolescent client populations in inpatient, residential and partial hospitalization settings. He combines his clinical experience with his personal experience in recovery to provide the most effective treatment to his clients. Ryan is also an advocate for the LGBTQ community and he has received advanced clinical training in sexuality/gender related issues. A South Florida native, he received his Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.
Richard Mayora, LCSW, CAP
Supervisor of Outpatient and Family Services
Richard Mayora is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has taught at The Institute for Addiction Studies and The Academy for Addiction Professionals. He has chaired Broward’s Recovery Month event several times and will act in this capacity for 2017. Richard has been in private practice; served as the Clinical Coordinator at Community Healthcare/CenterOne and was a clinician at Broward Health Medical Center’s psychiatric unit for many years. In 2014, Florida Atlantic University named him Supervisor of Year and mentoring students is his greatest passion.
