You may remember back in March when former Florida Governor candidate Andrew Gillum entered rehab.

Now, Andrew Gillum is speaking out on Instagram about his alcohol addiction and treatment for depression. This is Gillum’s first public appearance since he announced he was entering rehab for addiction. Growing up, Andrew Gillum watched his father struggle with an alcohol addiction and unfortunately, he later passed away from complications.

Andrew continued on his Instagram video to say, “I knew that if I didn’t want to recycle many of those same issues for my children, that I had to do something about it and I had to do it now”. We are so glad that Andrew was able to get the help that he needed for his alcoholism. Gillum also says that he is writing about his experiences in hopes that he can help others to heal as well.
