Last October, Miley Cyrus had celebrated 4 months of sobriety, but it wasn’t until she had her vocal cord surgery in November of 2019, that she became “sober sober”. In an interview with Variety, Miley talked about her family history and how there have been family members that have struggled with addiction and mental health issues. The 6-month sober Miley Cyrus explained, “It’s been really important for me over the last year living a sober lifestyle, because I really wanted to polish up my craft.”
The Stigma of Being Young and Sober
Miley talks about the stigma around being sober at a young age. “It’s really hard because especially being young, there’s that stigma of ‘you’re no fun’”, she says. Now that Miley Cyrus is 6 months sober, she says that she loves waking up “feeling ready” and not having to wake up groggy.
Being in the spotlight and being sober can have its challenges, but it’s great to see that Miley is living a healthier lifestyle and using her platform as an opportunity to be an inspiration to many.
