Justin Bieber Gets Candid About His Drug Abuse

Justin Bieber Gets Candid About His Drug Abuse

Justin Bieber launched his Youtube docuseries called “Justin Bieber: Seasons”.

In the third episode called “Dark Season”, Justin talked about how his addiction struggles got so out of hand, his team had to periodically check on him just to make sure he was alive.  He says, “My security would come into my room at night to check my pulse.”

Justin Bieber’s substance abuse problem started with using pills and smoking marijuana every morning. He later turned to harder party drugs like Molly, magic mushrooms, and sipping lean. What lead to Bieber’s substance abuse was his upbringing. “I started valuing the wrong things in this business, because there was things dangling in front of me. If I get this, I’ll be happy. If I do this, I’ll be happy. These are things that I think a lot of people with secure households learn at a young age. I never had that security in a family. I never had that consistency. I never had the reliability and the accountability”, says Bieber. Tabloid headlines over the years flashed that on top of Bieber’s addiction problem, he had many other troubles. Bieber had a DUI, participated in drag racing, was excessively partying, and even had an assault charge.

Justin Bieber’s Possible Co-Occurring Disorder

Justin also struggled with anxiety and depression, which he has been open about in the past. Along with his addiction, it sounds like Justin Bieber had a co-occurring disorder. This occurs when a mental health disorder exists with a substance use disorder. In order to help the person move past all of their issues, dual diagnosis treatment is usually necessary.

We are so proud of Justin for being so open about his struggles with substance abuse and mental health. Now that Justin Bieber is sober, he says his life has changed. It is not an easy thing to open up about but talking about his own struggles can help others who may be also be struggling.
