Brad Pitt Opening Up About Sobriety

Since the 90s, the iconic Brad Pitt has been making headlines with big starring roles in the blockbuster movies, one of them being 2019’s “Once Upon a Time In Hollywood.” Though he’s had his rough patches throughout the years, Pitt credits his 2019 success to his decision to quit drinking and attending AA meetings.

Brad Pitt’s Drinking and Recovery

Back in 2017, Brad Pitt revealed his sobriety and how he sought treatment for alcoholism. When discussing his drinking, Brad says, “I just saw it as a disservice to myself, as an escape.” Brad Pitt’s decision to stop drinking was due to his split from his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie.

The 55-year-old has learned a lot from the all-male Alcoholics Anonymous group he attended for a year and half. “You had all these men sitting around being open and honest in a way I have never heard. It was a safe space where there was little judgement, and therefore little judgement of yourself,” Pitt says. Rather than dwelling on the past, Pitt is choosing to move forward with his life. He says, “What you do after the mistake is what really defines a person. We’re all going to make mistakes. But what is that next step?”
