What is IOP?

What is IOP?

If you have decided to take steps to overcome your addiction, congratulations.

While this first step is certainly difficult, the next step may not be much easier. You will next need to decide which treatment center and program is best for you and your long-term success with sobriety. If you have just started looking into addiction rehab, you may have stumbled upon the three letters IOP. But what does an IOP look like and what can you expect from this program? At our Banyan Pompano Treatment Center, we want to help you make this important decision, so we are breaking down what an intensive outpatient program is and how to determine if this addiction treatment program is right for you.

What are the Benefits of an IOP?

An IOP, or intensive outpatient program, is one program that is used to treat addiction. Less strict than PHP, IOP gives patients more freedom and is designed to focus on the transition back to their daily lives. An IOP program is a good fit for someone who is focused on relapse prevention techniques, like building a greater support group and learning to cope without drugs or alcohol. IOP is like going from training wheels to learning to ride a bike without them. Many patients will actually start with PHP and then transition into IOP as they progress through their recovery.

One of the biggest benefits of an IOP is its balance between structure and freedom for the patient. Although the patient will attend various treatment programs throughout their time in an IOP, they are also spending a large amount of their time outside of treatment. At our substance abuse treatment center in Pompano, our patients will start with five days of group therapy. This is a great system for someone who is stable in their recovery and looking to get back to their everyday routine.

Another one of the more important benefits of an IOP is that patients are more easily able to hold employment. Because the program allows for a flexible schedule with early morning and evening programs, the patient can still work during the day. Work is a big part of most people’s life so being able to work during recovery gives many patients a sense of normalcy that they may crave.

With our optional faith-based treatment center, our IOP at Banyan Pompano has the added bonus of helping those who want to reconnect with God and their faith during the recovery process.

Whether you believe an IOP is right for you or not, we will help you determine which program is best for you or your loved one upon our preliminary treatment assessment.

If you or your loved one is struggling with addiction, our drug and alcohol treatment center in Pompano can help. You do not need to go it alone.
