What are the Warning Signs of Adderall Abuse?

What are the Warning Signs of Adderall Abuse?

Adderall, or dextroamphetamine-amphetamine, is a stimulant used to increase a person’s attention and focus.

It is most often used to treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, but people with or without this disorder have come to abuse this drug. Research has found that in recent years, non-medical use of the drug has risen 67% and emergency room visits from Adderall misuse have increased 156%. [1] These numbers are especially staggering. Some people may use Adderall on occasion to study for a test or for a busy day at work, but these occasional uses can easily become more frequent. It is not uncommon for a seemingly harmless habit to turn into an addiction. As an addiction rehab program, we realize these trends are cause for concern. With the drug abuse increasing so drastically, recognizing the Adderall abuse warning signs is important.

Warning Signs and Symptoms of Adderall Abuse

Some common Adderall abuse warning signs include:

  • Increased energy levels
  • Being unusually talkative
  • Irregular sleeping schedule
  • Social detachment when the drug effects wear off
  • Secretive behavior and taking pills frequently
  • Paranoia
