I always say I “fell” into this industry. I took a job as a primary therapist at a large South Florida treatment center shortly after graduate school on the recommendation of one of their employees. I did not know what to expect but once I witnessed the incredible miracle that is helping the addict live the life they deserve to live, I was hooked. So, first I fell into it, and then I fell in love with it.
I became Clinical Director in January 2017 after spending several months as both PHP and IOP program supervisor.
There are many but the most important one is to develop clinical programming and clinical staff trainings that will continue to meet our clients’ growing needs, stay current on substance abuse issues, and allow for a comprehensive treatment approach in order to help reduce our clients’ relapse rates.
What I find to be most unique about Banyan is how well-rounded our treatment process is. From the time a client calls in for help, our admissions team is already consulting with our clinical team. When they arrive at the center, our intake and assessment departments work hand-in-hand with clinical, nursing, case management, and operations to ensure that the client’s needs are met as soon as possible and as best as possible. I believe we are able to do this because, unlike other programs, all of our departments are housed under the same roof and because the communication among the staff is excellent. This allows for an individualized and multi-disciplinary approach to treatment, which I believe is what makes Banyan stand out among the rest.
The staff. I have worked at several treatment centers through the course of my career and never have I been a part of a team so dedicated to the quality of care they deliver. I can confidently say that every staff member at Banyan consistently puts the needs of the client first, is always prepared to assist in any situation even if it isn’t their direct responsibility, and handles client issues both empathetically and professionally. I am very proud to be a part of this team.
My favorite part of any day is when I get to interact with the clients. As Clinical Director, I don’t spend as much face-to-face time with clients as when I was a therapist. Whether they are asking for guidance through a struggle or simply updating me on how far they’ve come at Banyan, I am grateful for the continued opportunity to help and be a part of their individual journeys.
In my free time, I try to spend as much time as possible with my friends and family; especially my 14-month old nephew, Liam, who has my whole heart.
There is help and there is hope. While you may not be able to see a way out now, don’t give up. There are people out there who put their faith in the treatment process and are now living a life beyond their wildest dreams; so can you or your loved one.
